We live in rural Dorset and DH has become very excited about the French Lycee (altough DD is 3!!) Does anyone have any experience of it - ie Do they board? Who goes there? What is it like?

Website here

I would love to send DD (2.5) here eventually but no chance of that happening.

I used to go out with a chap who went to this school and I loved everything he told me about it. Also loved that all lessons/conversation at school are in French plus they do Baccalaureate which I think is much more credible qualification than A-Levels.

Sorry, not being much help but am that you are able to consider it.

No, we are not. DH has just realised the cost. Also we don't live in London. It was just a mommentary dream.

If you want your child to go to a French boarding school I highly recommend EABJM Lille - they do the French bac and the IB and it's not too far/expensive on the Eurostar.

The Lycee in London is basically for French nationals/those with very strong connections to France. It is a French school (and not a mode of education I would necessarily recommend if you are British). It is incredibly oversubscribed - to get in you have to meet criterian:

  1. fratries déjà scolarisées dans une de nos écoles primaires (ne s'applique pas si les aînés sont au collège ou au lycée),

Siblings at the school

  1. Français venant de France ou des établissements de l?AEFE,

French people coming from France or other international French schools

  1. Français de Grande-Bretagne 9ayant suivi les cours du CNED)

Franco-British (following the French distance learning programme)

  1. Français ayant déjà demandé à entrer dans le système les années précédentes,

French nationals in the system

  1. francophones.

Then it's decided by birth order, the child born closest to Jan has priority.
