What's it like having a boy?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to mumsnet! I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and found out yesterday that I'm having a little boy. My boyfriend and I are just delighted to have a healthy baby and are still in amazement at the fact that we're going to be parents.

Thing is, as an only child I've never grown up around boys (other than the ones that I was dating! ) and I just don't have a clue what it's like having a boy. How is it different having a baby boy to a baby girl? (other than the really obvious)

I have 2 ds's, 3 and 7, they are hilarious!

Sport is a big thing, the garden has a football net, basketball hoop, swings and trampoline.

They need lots of exercise!

I have two boys so no experience of raising girls, they are wonderful (as I'd be bound to say).

Congratulations

I have 2 boys. They are very different from each other, so no stereotypes her, but we have lots of fun.

Have a very cute 2.9 yr old boy and a new aby girl (12 weeks).

There's no difference as babies apart from individual personalities.

My boy is easy going, what you see is what you get and like all men, they are easy to talk round and work out!!

He is affectionate, loves babies (phew), loves his diggers as much as his toy buggy !

The only thing ive noticed in the pro's and cons dept when I see my mum friends with kids the same age....the boys do seem more straight forward and girls a little more complex.

Boys when they get to around 2 and a half start to get ALOT of energy. Testoserone levels are rising and I always like to get DS out in the mornings to run around with friends or in the park or a playgroup/softplay. Then he is chilled out again in the afternoons.

I will find out in a few years what my DD is going to surprise me with and I can't wait.

All babies are amazing when they are your own!
