Ok, I have 3 dcs age 5,3 & nearly 1. dc3 still wakes quite a lot at night (had a lot of bugs - colds, earache, the usual). Last night I was up 2 til 4 with him before he finally settled and obviously I'm knackered, head all foggy, gotta keep going with the other 2 as well, it's not even time for morning coffee but I've got the shakes from drinking too much of it already and counting down the hours til 7... Anyone want to share tips on how they keep going til bedtime on days like these???

Call on your friends. Do something really homely like making cupcakes and never mind the clearing up/mess all over the place etc. It's just on the surface. Laugh at yourself and the comical picture that you are in your bedragled, overwrought caffeinated groggy state. And last but not least congratulate yourself on an incredible job well done.

As soon as the 1 year old is in bed for a nap, tell the other 2 you are setting the alarm for 40 minutes time and that they must be quiet and not talk to you! Curl up on the sofa while they watch a film and SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sugar. It's the only thing that keeps me going when it's really bad.
