Disproportionately annoyed with parents who keep inviting my 9 year old dd to sleepovers.

I honestly don't know what to do for the best here.

The reason I'm so against random sleepovers is because I do NOT WANT to return the invite. I don't want my dd's friends staying here for a whole night. Some of them I don't particularly like to be brutally honest and it is just not my idea of fun.

I can just about tolerate doing it once a year for a birthday.

But her group of friends seem to have got in to this whole random sleepover thing and, I'm sorry if I sound curmudgeonly, but it really annoys me!

Should I be honest with the mums who keep doing this?

Or should I be beaten into submission and get ourselves involved in this whole merrygoround?

Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh

I'm sooo glad DS1 hasn't got into sleepovers (or having friends ) as I can't think of anything worse TBH.

I would be quite happy to have friends children tostay the night if they wanted to go out for the evening/weekend but I already have 3DC's why would I want any more to look after?

Maybe when they are teenagers, and won't speak to me, and can help themselves to food and drink without wrecking the kitchen, I might be more enthusiastic.

Like 4kids mine just have the lounge and we go upstairs with the other dds and watch a flim or something. They normally arrive after tea so as long as there's sweets and snacks you don't really get involved until about 10am the next morning. Some don't even want breakfast then they are picked up and gone!

I find children coming to tea more of a hassle as we normally eat about 8.00pm so I have to make an effort and be ready at a more reasonable time. Then obviously they don't like pizza, pasta, cheese, baked beans, anything green, etc... Much prefer sleepovers!

I just say "we can't have sleepovers here as DD1 shares a room with DD2 and she is only 3" so far this has worked. It's not that other children are horrid (though lots of them are) it's that my DD1 turns into a hideous gibbering show-off loudmouth if she has a friend in the house for any amount of time. Overnight I may well have to slip her a mickey.
