Hi there, haven't even had baby yet but planning down to smallest detail

Is it ok to put pooey nappies in washing machine (breastfed not solid- am planning on using liners too but disasters do happen)?

What is it ok to wash with nappies:

Nothing?
Wipes?
Pooey clothes?
All clothes?
DPs clothes?

Thanks for the help

I rinse the nappies / liners with BF poo in the machine til most of it has gone then wash with the rest of the nappies & wipes with bold on 40deg wash. Sometimes choose a longer cycle if there's a poo nappy in.

I only tend to put white clothes in with the nappies, as you can get dark fibres finding there way onto stray bits of aplix & don't want anything to run on my precious nappies . But I would shove pooey clothes in, if you are unlucky enough to have those too.

For BF poo I only used fleece liners on my Little Lambs so baby wouldn't feel the wee, not for poo disposable. I used nothing on her pockets / itti's.

I loved planning everything when I was pregnant. Isn't it exciting Have you got your nappies yet?

We got through so many nappies we very soon built up to a full load - did nappies, fleece liners, wraps and flannels/wipes all together.

Believe me your washing machine will be going day and night, you will have no trouble filling it .

For a very newborn you'll find they wee and poo in such small amounts but very often, and breastfed there's little 'solid' to deal with, just plenty of nappies. So for the first 2-3 weeks I'd not even bother to rinse off - just chuck straight in the machine and let the machine do the work.
Thereafter I'd probably use fleece liners and again let the machine do the work, rinsing off any volume of poo beforehand.
And I'd wash with anything I needed to fill the machine.

When you get more solid/larger poos, and for out and about, I'd use a paper liner to dispose of the poo

I do a quick wash cycle with no detergent at all on my nappies first, then wash with a tiny bit of detergent added on a full 40C wash after the first rinse - I do that not just to wash the poo out, but also to get the nappies properly wet as they absorb so much of the water that I wonder if there is enough in the machine to swish them about in and get them clean!
