I am wondering what age children usually are before they go out on New Year's Eve? Say to a party or a friend's house.

I have an idea for a children's story I'd like to write, about a family on new year's eve, but I'm not sure what the kids would be doing. I'm thinking they're aged 13, 12 and 10.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated! I'm not a Mum yet so I have to rely on those of you with experience to tell me what happens.

My sister has similar aged children (11 and 13) and they tend to have a party at their house on New Years Eve or go to friends who have children. The kids tend to run riot upstairs whilst the grown ups socialise downstairs. Having said that, they always try to integrated them into the party by having a fancy dress theme and playing games such as Pictionary with a large clip board.

Hope this helps.
