Hope that's right! I have 1 DS, nearly 2 who is just starting to be invited to parties. So far they have all been for older children (4 year olds) and as such can be a bit long for him (due to naps/general tiredness). Is it ok to ask to arrive late/leave early or is that terribly rude? I have no idea and don't really know the parents. Can both parents attend or is that OTT? Don't relish the idea of 2 or 3 hours with a strangers on my own but maybe that's my life now...! Do we need to send a 'thank you for the party' card afterwards? Feels like a minefield and don't want to be rude inadvertently. Oh, I had more 'not enough to think about on a Sunday afternoon' questions but they've gone. They'll come back...

Hi,

I assume these are people from nursery? Maybe going to parties is a good way to get to know them (on the other hand, once you've been to a few birthday parties, you start becoming relieved when you don't get invited .....)

Anyhoo, I hope no-one would bat an eyelid if you arrive late/leave early (depending on the circs). We all know what 2 year olds are like and can cope with !

If you think you'll be late - just let the host know, so they know you are coming.

No need to send a thankyou card afterwards - just say thanks when you leave.

Don't get into the habit of spending too much on presents, £5 can buy a lot.

Thinking about it - Much better to leave early than arrive late, if you can

Thats great, thanks for replying on this not too inspiring of topics! One is my hairdresser's daughter and one is a child at my childminders. Your advice sounds sensible, thanks!
