6-7 year age gap - how does it work for you?

DD is 5.5, and having had a bit of a rough time with her, then missed a couple of windows where the possibility of having another baby might have come up, we had come to the conclusion that we would stick with one.

All quite happy with that, got rid of pretty much everything but the cot last year (cos I couldn't be arsed to reassemble for someone to look at only to have to take it apart again!)

... and now I'm bloody broody!

Have never felt strongly enough to actually want to try for another one before, but now am quite seriously thinking about it (though suspect DH might take a fair bit more convincing!)

Thing is we will have such a big age gap am starting to wonder if I'm bonkers to even consider it.

What d'ya think?

hi womblingfree , i have a 6yr & 11 months gap between my two dc's , i had complications after ds was born & i had to wait five years before i was given the all clear to ttc again , i think the age gap is fine tbh , ds is 11yrs now & dd is 4yrs & she follows him around everywhere & he dotes on her as he always wanted a little sister ,also he brings her downstairs in the mornings on the weekends & they watch tv or play games together which means i sometimes get a sneaky lie in with dh
good luck with convincing your dh x

That's encouraging. I always felt before that I wouldn't mind a 'happy accident' but I wasn't confident enough to actually 'try' to have another (DD1 was v.sicky preg, emerg c-section, jaundice, colic and pnd!)

DH feels we are just starting to get our lives back, but I just feel that would make it easier to cope. We'll have to wait a few months before making a final decision anyway, as I need to know my contract will be renewed before we start trying (part of my decision is due to the fact I am now working somewhere much nearer home and with on-site childcare provison).

So I figure I have four months to change his mind!

I have a 5.5 year gap between my second and third. Works fine. The older ones look after DC3 when I pop to the loo and go and cook in the kitchen!

I have an 8 yr gap-it is a lot easier than my, standard, 2 yr gap.
