HELP!!

DS2 (just turned 1) has been sleeping through for months without a problem. DP is out tonight and DS has woken up screaming. I've been up twice to put his music on and settle him, and he calms briefly, but then back to screaming. I've been up again, got him out and laid on our bed with him, and he's just sat up laughing. I've tried to give him some milk, but he just knocks the bottle away, I've put him back in his cot, and he's screaming again. The moment I take him out he starts to play!

What do I do? I've never had this with him before, he's always been such a good sleeper?!

Okay, I left his milk in his cot with him, and he quietened down for a few mins but now he's kicking the side of the cot and getting upset again, each time I go up I can settle him but when I leave the room he gets worse. If I get him out he wants to play..

Is anybody there..

Have you checked his temperature? He could be teething although just playing when out of bed doesn't sound like it.

Thank you for replying!

temperature fine...just had a tooth pop through..he had gone quiet for about 10 mins, but has just started up again.

Have no idea what to do, do I carry on letting him crying it out (going up to settle him every few mins, only to make him worse when I leave)
or
get him out and let him play??

Well as I recall I would let mine sleep with me in similar circumstances but that's not for everyone. Hopefully someone will come alng with more constructive advice for you.

ChickandDuck · 05/02/2010 22:47

thats what I tried, and used to do when he was smaller, but he just wanted to dive off the side of the bed or jump on me, thought it was hilarious! He's quiet again, so unlike him, I feel completley unprepared!

My ds3 has been like this for the past week, he is 14 months. He is cutting his back teeth.

Could you maybe give him some calpol/infant paracetamol incase he is teething?

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/02/2010 23:00

Maybe just a phase when he has begun to have vivid dreams?
I hope he settles for you soon.

ChickandDuck · 05/02/2010 23:01

He's gone again, but I've a feeling it's not for long.

If he had continued crying when I got him out then I probably would have but he was fine. TBH I don't like to give calpol unless absolutly necessary.

FlyMe... I wondered if it was something like that, can I do anything for him? Should I let him stay up for a bit?

I can't really think. I seem to remember just muddling through things like this but perhaps thats why I have a 3 yr old in bed with me every night now

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/02/2010 23:16

Could he not sleep with you if you put the lights out, make the room secure incase he gets out in the night and if you wait until he drops off before sleeping yourself?

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/02/2010 23:18

Got to go to bed myself now.
Good luck

ChickandDuck · 05/02/2010 23:19

He could, I have no problem with it. But he won't tonight! Just wide awake. I think he may have settled now
