Can hair partings be changed to part the other way?
ie, dd has aquired a nasty scar on her forehead. Will it be easy to just part her hair on the other side to cover scar up?

I'm not a hairdresser but I change my parting all the time, when its wet just move it to where you want it to be then let it dry there.

All depends on how you found her first parting. Loads of questions now:
Was the original parting combed in or how it naturally falls when brushed?
Has she got a double crown?
What type of hair has she? (flyaway, thick, one length, layered, straight or wavy).

My dd2 has shoulder length fine wavy hair with a double crown so until the layers grew out she looked like Ed the duck. It parts naturally off centre now and any attempt to change it fails unless I use a clip, which she then pulls out...

Difficult to change the natural layout of the hair growth but then my dear MIL insists that there is a girl's side and a boy's side for partings (?!).

Littleover - thanks, here come the answers...
She has a wierd 'L' shaped crown/natural parting, going from her forehead on her left side, straight towards the back, the it turns almost 90 degrees across the back of her head. I thought orininally she had a double crown but it a crown 'line' rather than a spot, if that makes sense??
She has fairly thick, straight shoulder length hair.
I know I need to go to the hairdressers really, but that in itself is a trauma!

Ohtobe4 - dd has the same sort of hair line. It's great for pulling back the top in a single hair bobble on the side, but rubbish for putting into a ponytail!

ohtobe4 · 26/01/2010 21:43

yes, ponytails do look odd don't they!!
So......how should I hide the scar??
Is a fringe the only answere??

Oh, the scar is on the natural parting side (of course!!)

Go for a fringe, unless she has a cowslick in her front hairline that parts where the scar is. Ask your stylist not to cut it too far back from the hairline as it will look like a cover up job rather than a change of style.

I caught chickenpox at 32 (bad...really bad) and have a couple of HUGE deep scars on my forehead that have made me have a fringe since then. Bless her, good luck at the salon!
