DS2's wraps are getting wet on the outside, there is a pool of wee inside them is it the nappy being too small? wraps being small/big or nappies not being absorbant enough??? it has begun to get desperate now.

I have done the last 6 washes of nappies/wraps with no detergent at all and until the final wash there was still bubbles in the machine.

Would washing all his nappies and drying them in the launderette help do you think? this has only been a problem since my dryer packed up and i have been drying nappies on radiators.

Have you dried the wraps on the radiator? If so you might have damaged them and stop them being waterproof. What wraps are you using?

TheLadyEvenstar · 21/01/2010 12:31

sorry typed that wrong i meant i have been drying them on an airer in front of the radiators.

Hiya,
It sounds like the nappy's not absorbent enough. As long as he's in the right size nappies and wraps for his weight id try boosting the nappy a bit more or boost between the nappy and the wrap to see if its that.

He might just be weeing more now which is causing them to leak, and liquid to form a pool in the wrap. A bit of Bamboo in the wet zone, should sort it out.

I don't think the airer near the radiator will have done any damage in terms of drying them.

If i can help any more let me know.

The wraps may be too small - do you use ME Airflow? You need to have a bit of roominess for air to circulate with them or the moisture will wick through eventually at pressure points.

Or you may need more absorbant nappy or some boosters.

You could try using fabric conditioner on your wraps if worried about loss of waterproofing, I believe this is supposed to help re-seal them.

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 14:40

Wraps may also leak in places if clothes are too tight over them.

TheLadyEvenstar · 21/01/2010 15:20

really fabric conditioner can help???

some of the nappies are getting a tad too small now. but with the wraps they seem to fit fine....

where are the wraps leaking from?

when you say they are wet on the out side is it coming through the actual material? or just from the leg holes?

Easy answer if its coming through the material then its the wraps but too be honest it sounds to me like the nappies need more boosting to help hold all the liquid. Give it ago and see.

babybots i just took some pics so will put it on my profile.

I would say you have lost waterproofing on them looking at your photo. I would invest in some more or one more - if it still happens then would look at absorbency as cost of new nappies may not be needed.

Babybots · 21/01/2010 18:10

Our Ds's share the same name!

So from that pic it looks like it could be either!

  1. coming from legs and spreading across the bottom, if its that, try boosting, make sure clothes are not causing pressure all of nappy is covered etc.

Or 2 coming through all the way along. Whats the inside of the wrap like, has it gone all flaky, crunchy or sticky?

As far as i know it would only leak through if it was de laminating and the pul was damaged - usually by too high a heat.

If they are de laminating i'd give up on them and get some more as its probably more expensive to fix than buy more (nature babies, wraps are just as good, cheaper and they do a one size)

Hope that is of some help!

TheLadyEvenstar · 21/01/2010 18:21

hi babybots, not they are not crunchy inside or flaky they are as smooth as can be....i will try boosting and see how we go.

Big or little DS?? lol although i love both of their names/
