our health authority has authorised swine flu jabs for under 5's and both my little ones have had a letter to get them done.

just wondering if i should be cautious or worried about anything to do with this jab?

appointment booked for a couple of weeks...

cheers

dd 4yo had hers Thursday - you'd never have guessed if she hadn't had a plaster on her arm that she'd ever had a jab - absolutely no effect on her whatsoever. The doc suspects she has already had Sf in Oct but I had her jabbed as a precaution as obviously they no longer test and we couldn't be 100% sure it was SF - glad I have as i'd never forgive myself if she came down with it to grave effect.

my 2yo had his on Weds. No problems at all. Doc said that he may have a bit of a raised temp later but was just as likely not to.
He didn't have any ill effects, didn't even complain of a sore arm and had no lump where the injection went in and was his usual chirpy self all day.
I was happy to take him to have it as would rather have him vaccinated than risk any possible complications resulting from swine flu complications.

I had my 3yo dd1 and 7mo dd2 done today. There were lots of other parents there and they weren't worried. Dd2 is sleeping like the proverbial baby, dd1 is not well. Crying, hot, arm hurts, snotty nose. Think it's probably just a cold but not sure, do they often experience flu-like symptoms after the jab? Read up as much as I could and decided the jab was sensible, now wondering if I was right. But dd2 seems to be fine, hopefully it's just a cold. Will keep an eye on her.

Arm hurts from the needle, obviously. It's not swollen or red or anything. And she did squirm and the needle scratched her skin.

thanks ladies... just checking as you do!

DS (2) had his before Christmas - didn't even cry when he had it, no sore leg and no after-effects at all, in fact he was on great form afterwards!
