Oh crappity crap. I am definitely the world's worst mother today. Bought a new watch with a vibrate alarm to wake me up, so it doesn't wake DD2 up as well, and it didn't sodding wake me up. So DH left the house at 6.25am, and I didn't wake up until 7.25am (had earplugs in, which is why I need the alarm set for when DH leaves the house, so I can take over listening out duty). DD2 almost always is awake around 6.30am, so she'd probably been crying for an hour. A whole hour. Poor poor thing . She's only 7 months. She seems OK today, a bit subdued/tired maybe, and she's got a red mark on her hand presumably from where she was sucking her thumb frantically trying to keep happy. Oh god. And DD2 (2.4) said she'd been crying, but she was quiet and seemed asleep when I got up, so possibly not.

Gargh. Someone pass me the hugest self-flaggelation (sp?) tool there is please. x 1000000

Don't know why I'm posting really - don't need anyone to tell me its OK, cause its not. Just want to get it off my chest I suppose.

Help. I need some advice please. Every day I seem to get myself in a state worrying that I am doing everything wrong. Took my daughter to the doctors for my postnal check and her first lot of vaccinations today. Was all fingers and thumbs trying to undress her and then left the surgery without putting her coat back on, as waiting room was heaving with people and I got a bit flusterd trying to very awkwardly put her hat on whilst in carseat. Only realised when I got back to the car! Poor thing - it was cold! Then nearly drove off without strapping carseat in properly.

Now sat at home worried silly that she will have a reaction to the vaccine. I seem to spend every day evaluating what I have done instead of enjoying her early weeks. Does anyone else get like this? How likely is it she will have a reaction to vaccine?

this christmas i was so carried away with christmas cooking that I forgot to give baby DD her milk, then couldn't understand why she was crying when she should be napping and let her cry for about 45 mins thinking she'd surely get to sleep any moment now... only remembered the bottled I'd missed when she finally did nod off and I was thinking more clearly.
I bought her a big toy and felt much better! and gave her the milk pronto when she woke up, obviously

crazydaisy - yes we've all been there. to add to my confession, i was so flustered when leaving the house with pram and a mate recently that I left both the front doors to our house wide open while we went to the park. just forgive yourself the things you have gotten wrong so far and start with a clean slate tomorrow. then G O S L O W through your day - if it takes you 40 mins to get yourself and DD organised and dressed and out of the waiting room at the doctors, then so be it. Just take your time and don't get so flustered.

Crazydaisy, that's par for the newborn course I think. Once, when I was up at 3am holding my tiny baby and waiting for dawn (because she'd only sleep once it started to get light), I was reading a baby book to pass the time and came across a bit about how to encourage a reluctant child to brush hir teeth.

OH CRAP I thought, I haven't been brushing her teeth! So young and already I was neglecting her, her teeth would rot and it would all be my fault.

And then I remembered she didn't have any teeth yet.

Lukewarm, I have too many stories to share, but trust me, you're not the world's worst mum at all!

MadamDeathstare OMG

PS are you my mum in RL? She can melt you to the ground at 100 paces with a mere glance. What a fabulous parenting tool to have.
