My son is 3 and blimey can he paddy. These are no ordinary, over in 10 minute, easy to distract from paddies. These are at least 45 mins, no hope of distraction and even pandering to him doesn't help (something I discovered today!). They normally start when he doesn't get his own way, I give him a choice of what to do or I do something in an way he doesn't want/like. After 10 minutes I tend to resign myself to it and leave him to it. The trouble with this is that it doesn't make his paddies any shorter which is what I want!

Any advice?

didn't want your post to go unanswered... not got much to say to help really apart from he WILL grow out of it. The best thing to do is try to ignore it!

Think you're doing the right thing by leaving him to it. Eventually, he'll work out that it's pretty boring to spend all that time having a tantrum.

While he's in that state you could just start playing with his toys by yourself, making lots of interesting noises but not looking at him at all. He may become curious about what you're doing. Otherwise, he's best ignored. He'll grow out of it and at the moment it gives you 45 minutes to get on with things on your own.

Thank you both. I shall continue with the ignoring and spend the time trying to devise something that works like magic in making them stop!
