Motherease wraps - losing their waterproofness?

We've got some secondhand motherease wraps, accumulated for various MNers, friends, ebay etc, and some of the older ones seem to be leaving straight through the fabric of the wrap (rather than out the leg seams).

Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone tried reproofing them with something like the sprays you get for coats etc? Just wondering whether to bite to bullet and order more or not...

Yes, they do just get old and cracked and useless. I've heard of heating them up to remelt the PUL, but I don't think it's likely to succeed.
Test them carefully first to be sure, but may just have to bin and buy new ones.

I have used some wraps and 3 children and had no problems at all - think with second hand ones you don't know how they were treated before i.e. temp washed at/tumble dried to death etc.

If you look after them they last ages. There are loads on ebay cheap atm.

I think perhaps one or two of the ones I've got have been a bit abused - some of them feel like (and are about as effective as) cotton rather than anything waterproof!

Maybe I'll go wild on Ebay - no danger of DS potty training any time soon...

You can try tumble drying - this realigns the molucules of the PUL and can in some instances re-seal them. Often though it's just the fact of much use - usually only applicable in sizes L & M, rarely in S.
