Hello,
I beg you (sad I know) to support our campaign to get councillors to do something about dangerous parking by some parents in our town Oadby Leicester. Please sign this e-petition - I don't know many people and would really appreciate greatly for mumsnet support on this. We all know the school run can be a nightmare and its a few who are inconsiderate who are making this dangerous for children and residents nearby the schools. If we get a lot of signatures hopefully councillors will note and something will happen. Hopefully we can be a lesson to other parents in towns who think 'they can get away with breaking the law'.

It will only take a few minutes of your time, we only have until the end of this month to present the petition:

The link to the petietion is:

Thank you so much - I really need your help.

To be honest the council are unlikely to take much notice of signatures from people who do not live in the immediate area. You would be better getting a real petition signed outside the school. If you are going to stand there and ask for signatures I would suggest asking people to agree to something like:

"The council should do something to improve parking facilities near X School" rather than "The council should fine selfish idiots who can't park properly"!

We have had similar problems at our school. Have you talked to the council member for the area the school is in and got them on-side?

Does the road have any parking restricitons? Are these enforced? If not get in touch with the local police station and ask to speak to the road safety office - ask them what they are doing. Alternativley find out who the local PCSO is for the area and give them a call to ask for help in resolving it.

We even had one idiot (who actually has a child at our school) drive along the pavement at just after school drop off time!

Hi Sam100
I can see what your saying abaut local signatures but one of the objectives of having an e-petition is to show support for the campaign from a more wider spectrum too. There is an initiative to get signatures. But I really want us to blast the council to take note that this is a issue for many and we want them to take notice. All your suggestions have been taken up by the residents and our MP is now involved. It just makes me really sad that some parents simply do not give a damn and make life a pain for residents and the children.
