Where do you leave your toddler when you are in the bathroom/shower

My almost two yr old is getting to the point where he will be able to climb out of his playpen/ cot and I'm panicking - how will I have a shower or go to the loo when he does? Please help.

I must be a horrible mummy, lightwind - that experience wouldn't make me child-proof the room - it would make me think 'Well, he won't do that again!" I don't believe in child proofing the house (apart from obviously l;ife threatening stuff of course) - I believe in life -proofing the child!

I put a DVD on.

My house is fairly childproof, so providing the oven is switched off at the wall and the dog is out, she wanders.

If I need her to be in one place, i.e. if I am expecting someone to call and need to leave the door unlocked (this was more of a problem when we were moving and people would decide to come and 'help' half an hour before I start work). I put up her play table in the bath room and give her a bowl of ice cream on it.

like seeker I would think 'well he won;t do taht again'

at nearly 2 you need to start life-proofing the toddler

start saying 'very hot, mustn;t touch' etc rather than just penning him up away from stuff or you'll never be able to go anywhere / do anything ever again.

MrsBadger - we should write a book. "Lifeproof your Child"

playing on the floor in the bathroom. or just outside the door with door left open. Or as he got older ( 2 +), watching a DVD with doors open SO I could hear him coming.

Some days I manage to shower before he's awake or while he has breakfast with DH.

Most of us have given up going to the lo in peace, they just follow you in there and want to chatter.

Unrelated to question but thought it might make you laugh..was putting "Olay first signs of ageing" (yeah, right, my arse) on this morning whilst doing facial exercises with eyes closed; thought "hang on a minute, what the fuck is that?"; now have BF 3 children for 12 months+ each so have little feeling left in nips , but DD3 was twiddling and I mean really twiddling nips with a puzzled look on face. Was she trying to find radio 2????
