Outdoor games?

Once each week ds (3.5) goes to play with next-door neighbour girl (also 3.5) or vice versa. We both have a tiny plot of back garden, just enough to kick a football in or to play simple hunt-for-things games, both of which we do quite regularly. Now that the weather is getting nicer, the kids are spending even more play time in said gardens. Next-door neighbour mum is incredibly organised/creative about thinking up games (I'm useless, I'm afraid) but even she is running out of ideas. What else can a couple of 3-yr-olds do outside in a small plot of green?

Have you got a sprinkler? We used to spend hours running back and forth through the sprinkler!

Have you got a tent? Hours of pretend camping fun there.

Oh yes, making rockets out of cardboard boxes and going to the moon was another fave. My mum also used to construct a little sweet shop out of cardboard boxed and give us her scales and some old jamjars with rice, sweets etc in it. A few paper bags and some plastic money and we were happy all day.

It came to an end when we moved the "shop" round to the front of the house, nicked the veggies from the patch and were selling them outside!

Oh definately the big cardboard box thing!!! 'Painting' with water on concrete/paving stones is good fun too.

We managed on the whole with paddling pool and sandpit (pref not together as it gets messy!). Also a tunnel for variety and a pop-up playhouse or cardboard box.
