Bumgenius v3 - To soak or not to soak?

Hi,

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that you do not need to soak the BG nappies and inserts, but DH thinks that if we soak them it will reduce the smell of dirty nappies in the nursery.

What do you do with the dirty BG?

Many thanks for your help and advices.

I do not soak them, though I have never soaked any of my nappies. I would imagine they would smell more if soaked.

Soaking? Think poo soup. Dry pailing is much less smelly. Just stick dirty nappies in a bucket with a lid that fits well.

For smells, a top tip is a few drops of something like tea tree oil on a sanitary towel stuck to the lid but I don't bother with that as the bucket never smells that bad.

Or use an extra large Monkey Foot wetbag - gorgeous and practical. Just stick it in the wash with the nappies.

Don't bother soaking, put them in a good wetbag like an xl Monkeyfoot and you won't smell a thing.

Or a nappy daisy on teh lid of the nappy bucket - www.nappyshed.co.uk

Nappy daisies look like a pricey gimmick to me. ST or breastpad or even an old rag with essential oil on is just as effective.

NappyShedSal · 02/01/2010 21:40

But not as pretty!!! And nappy daisies have an inbuilt sucker to stick to the lid, no faffing with sellotape.

But to go back to the original question - I wouldn't recommend soaking BG or any wraps made of PUL - I think you'll find it ruins teh waterproofness after a while.

Thanks for all the answers, now I just need to buy a sealable bin or a wetbag.

Thanks again
