Washies and movement

My 4.5 month old DS is in Motherease birth-to-potty nappies, and I love them. We've had no problems apart from a little overnight leakage (resolved by using two boosters instead of one).

Anyway, I'm slightly worried about the amount of movement my DS has while in the nappy. He seems to find it difficult to bend and reach his toes. When I put his feet to his mouth he seems a little breathless and I'm wondering if it's the bulkiness of the nappy that's causing the problem. When he's nappyless on the change mat he grabs his feet, but he seems to struggle with the nappy on.

Has anyone else seen a similar effect? Will loosening the nappy help, or will it just make it leak? Any tips gratefully received!

Hi, just rushing out - but read the Onelife thread that's on here - just below this one - well at the moment it's just below! That should reassure you.

He'll be fine. My DS was in various types of cloth nappies and was walking at 9 months They find ways to get round it

He'll over come it. Bit like runners when they get serious they go out with weights in their hands. All adds to his muscle development.

(and believe me once you've come out the other end you will realise you didn't really want him to be crawling/climbing the furniture/pulling things over, it's SOOO much easier when you put them on the floor and they stay put while you get on with things!)

Thanks for the reassurance everyone, and for the pointer towards the thread nappyshedsal, it was very enlightening!

I know I don't want him to be moving, but he's a very alert 4.5 months (after being a very alert 1 week old, and a very alert 3 month old... I'm getting used to it!) and gets very frustrated unless he's sitting up/exploring things. At the moment this involves me holding him up and getting things for him, so "getting on with things" is an impossibility! I'm sort of looking forward to chasing him around the house instead!
