...what your dd's favourite Christmas pressies are!

Dd1 is 10 in less than 2 weeks, but doesn't know what she wants. She got all that she actually wanted for Christmas.

She has asked us to get her clothes, so that's easy enough, but relatives are asking for ideas and she can't think of any.

What did your dd's get for Christmas that they loved?

Thanks

Mp3 player.
Club Penguin DS game.
Mr Stink book (she is really enjoying the book ).

I no longer have a ten year old girl but when the dds were about that age their favourite things were:

  • really good quality art stuff: proper sketch books / pastels and pastel paper / watercolour pencils
  • diaries/notebooks and good quality gel pens
  • books
  • new dressing gown, slippers, hot choc, mug, marshmallows, hot water bottle, snuggly blanket
  • stuff for their bedrooms - new rug, beanbag, new duvet cover etc
foxinsocks · 30/12/2009 19:59

these pens (and if you look at the pens also bought you'll see the fibre tip ones which are slightly thicker in the same thing)

you can make them stand up in their packet. They are apparently v popular at school but also v good quality!

she loved all the knick knack stuff, don't know if your dd is like that (so a small china doll, a charm bracelet)

loved her crop tops (though you'll probably want to give her that!)

lego set

we decided to get her a mobile now because she's started going out on her own and both dh and I travel (for work) and thought it would be nice that we could send her text messages (and vice versa)

Another idea is a load of felt squares with some needles, embroidery threads, googly eyes and other bits and pieces plus a bag of stuffing, so she can make felt animals etc.

JaneiteQuiteRight · 30/12/2009 20:06

Yes to bedsocks too!

Does she have hobbies you can buy for?

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 30/12/2009 20:22

Some great ideas here, thanks

Earthstar - she's a gymnast. She's got a new leotard for Christmas but I did think about a vest top with her name on it but I can't find anywhere that sells vest tops

Foxinsocks - she has those pens, and yes, she loves them

A proper ribbon on a stick for rhythmic gymnastic twirling?
Leg warmers?
DVD of olympic gymnasts?

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 30/12/2009 20:27

Wrong type of gymnastics Earthstar - the DVD sounds good though - thanks

My dd likes the ribbon thing for just twirling around the garden! Actually I like it too, wish I had my own

Klutz Fashion Books (arts and crafts whereby you cut out and design outfits. Various themes available).

The Klutz fashion books are v good, especially the ones that come with tiny coat hangers.

DD2 used to love getting cookery books and baking stuff too.

tegan · 30/12/2009 20:45

ipod touch, laptop, money thats it really
actually dd is 11.8 if that makes a difference.

last xmas she had a new mobile phone, money, hair straighteners, make up, clothes

BendyBob · 30/12/2009 20:47

My dd's are 11 and 8. I found some great things in Hawkins Bazaar which they seem to have liked.

On the twirly ribbon theme this is good and comes with a cd to show you what to do. The weather has been too awful to try it outside, but it looks good fun.

They do some good books with optical illusions to work out which have been a hit and also those magic eye books.

Also got a Stylophone from there - remember those??

Do you have a Wii? We have the 'Just Dance' game and 'Wii Music' is good too.

A watch? Dd2 has a Ribbon watch which is pretty.

Oh and this thingy It's fascinating.

Also look for Science Museum toys. They do some very interesting things like microscopes and prisms

harriedandflustered · 30/12/2009 20:48

Mine's 11. Try an IPOD or an IPOD touch. Or clothes or make-up or a bracelet or anything really. Girls are fun to buy for.

stressheaderic · 30/12/2009 20:49

Those pens are fab - some of my Year 7s have them and stand them up on the desk all proud, I'm so jealous....

MrsJohnDeere · 30/12/2009 20:50

Things my 10yo niece loved for Christmas were:

Harry Potter DVD
Watercolour pencils
Twightlight books
Lush bath stuff

Shge also loves Monsoon clothes (which her parents would/could never buy) but didn't get any this time.

JaneiteQuiteRight · 30/12/2009 20:51

I would say no to make up tbh, other than pale coloured nail varnish.

Those metal ball things that Bob linked to are great.

MrsJohnDeere · 30/12/2009 20:53

twilight not twightlight, obviously

too much wine tonight...
