I have a 6 and half month old baby and me and hubby are claiming child tax credits at the min, when i go back to work in feb im reducing my hours to 30 hours a week, also hunny has been thinking of going selfemployed he is a taxi driver and works for a firm but is wanting to go selfemployed, but we need a bit of help before he makes the decisionm, will we still be entitled to tax credits??
Is there anyone in a simular situation who can help us please??
We want to make sure we can still manage, with me reducing hours ect.
also if dh goes selfemployed how can you give the tax credits a annual amount for the year as he wont know what he will make,

Really really confused :-( x

you have to give them an estimated income and ask that they assess you on your current years income.

Hi thanks sleighGirl,

But at the minute he only works 16 hours so if threy based it on what we are getting now and he erns more selfemployed we would owe alot would we??

yes you could end up owing them. Once he has started earning and his income actually increases phone them up and tell them - that is what you are told to do.
