Reusable nappies advice please!

Hi all, I'm expecting my first DS in early February and have almost got everything prepared. One of my big buys is nappies.

I plan to use disposables when travelling/occassionally, but in the main I'd like to use reusable nappies and reckon I can get set up easily with brand new for £200.

Can you advise on the best ones you've used - I'm not overly concerned with drying time as I have a dryer if needed. My main priorities are cost and leakage!
Any advice you have on the best fit or fastening also appreciated as looking at totsbots alone there are so many different types I don't want to end up buying something that is nightmarish and useless!

Thanks in advance

best advice would be not to buy know and wait unitl bubs has arrived and then try a few second hand (or some local councils run a trial nappy scheme- try the envrironmental bit of yours). This is because diff types fit diff shaped babies and parents get on with diff types too. A seperate wrap over something rather than an all in one will be best for containing breast fed pooh, best wraps are motherease with the velcro and gusets.

Strongly disagree! Could not get along with gussety Motherease Rikki wraps - much prefer Airflows. But found BumGenius one-sizes, initially with just the newborn insert, worked really well.

DS3 had just one small Itti which fitted from pretty small to about eight months (DS3 is not the biggest!). That was my favourite. And one small Blueberry sidesnap. Was always waiting for them to dry.

DS1 constantly had industrial poo explosions. He was in two-parters. DS2 had very few, also in two-parters. And DS3 has had almost none. He is mainly in pockets. All breastfed. A lot of it depends on the baby.

Try some 2nd hand ones for fraction of cost at clothnappytree website then sell them on again if they dont suit you.

My favourites were TotsBots cotton shaped nappies and Little Ewe and Junior Joy terry squares. Little Ewe were more absorbent but Junior Joy were good to have in as dried quicker.
I also liked Kissaluvs for little babies.

I preferred Totsbots wraps when the babies were small and then used Motherease airflow as they got bigger.

Kittykins has lots of info including help with choosing which nappy might suit you. I liked the Kittykins site for information about the nappies.
