Help! Dry, pink, itchy bottom

DD has always been prone to nappy rash (or what might be thrush - usually small red dots) but we generally keep on top of it through a combination of Canesten HC and nappy-off time.

For the past couple of days though, she's had a large area of dry, pink skin in her nappy area, which is obviously itchy because every time I change her, she tries to put both hands in and scratch it. It is also now starting to flake

Any suggestions? I've had two days of Sudocreme, a day and a night of Metanium and we're now on to the Weleda, none of which seems to be having much of an effect.

Others in my arsenal include Daktacourt, Method Baby nappy cream, Mothercare Natural Softies nappy cream, Green Baby nappy balm, Neal's Yard nappy balm, some squirty stuff which I think is called Zinco or something like that, and some lavender salve. Think that's it ...

Oh yes, and we're supposed to go swimming in an hour or so but I'm worried that will dry it out even more (plus DD is grumpy and out of sorts).

DS2 has quite dry skin and things like sudocrem and especially metanium would dry it out even more and aggravate nappy rash.

I found Waitrose Bottom Butter fantastic, but failing that I would try slapping on any old moisturiser for 24 hrs and see if it helps.

In my Ds's case, what looked like nappy rash was actually dry skin.

Yeah the Metanium wasn't great but I thought the Sudocreme would be quite moisturising. Mothercare Natural Softie (seemed to be the most moisturising one of what I have) seems to be doing the trick Must try Waitrose Bottom Butter as I've heard good things, but maybe when my present stash has depleted a bit (I didn't buy them all btw, I'm not a total loon )

It might be a fungal infection? Check out with HV or GP?
