nappy bucket

I was wondering what everyone uses in terms of a nappy bucket. I've tried to find something with a 'sealed' lid, but can't find anything at a price I want to pay. Looked into wet bags, but I can't see me getting on with them. I was wondering if a small bog standard swing bin would be OK, or would it smell?

I couldn't ever find a bucket with a lid from a hardware shop, and have a "nappy bucket" - which is just a bucket with a lid from Mothercare. It cost a fortune for what it is! About £15 I seem to remember. Doesn't smell though. I could see a swing bin smelling, as their is no real seal. On my Mothercare bucket the lid is very tight.

Thanks for replies all. Had looked in the local hardware stores to no avail, I was really hoping not to have to spend the kind of money that dedicated 'nappy buckets' call for. Bikerunski, I agree with the smelly swing bin scenerio. I'll have to just keep an eye open for anything suitable. Thanks again all.

Do you want something that is cheaper than the £15 quoted above for the Mothercare bucket, but a bit funkier as well

Ooh thanks for that nappyshedsal. I hadn't thought of using a tub like that. I have loads of those around the place.

somewhathorrified - I hope you saw the link to the Funky Buckets page, not the link to the Tub trug set of Pop'n'Gro nappies - they wouldn;t do at all!! You do definitley need something with a fairly tightly fitting lid. (Just got a bit worried when you used the word "tub" in case you were thinking of the wrong thing.

kitchen swing bin i what i use however dh bought a rather large one and i have a large stash of nappies so i have to remind myself to wash them regularly and not wait for the bin to be full or i can't fit them all in the washing machine!

Found one! Wilko sell an 18l bin (that looks like dusty bin design) with lockable lid all for £3.50. Thanks for the input all, really appreciate it.

we got ours from Range - they do an 8 litre one (v. small) for £2, and a 16 litre one for £4.
