Hi,
I am at my wits end. I have a 1yr old and a 2 yr old also. WHen we get home from school at 3p, until bedtime is the worst time for me and I am at breaking point. We live in a new area so don't know anyone really. My 7yr old is at a new school. All he wants to do is watch TV after school. The other 2 kids need attention. I just dont know how to keep them all happy. My 7 year old son doesnt really like to read / play with lego/ other stuff - he just likes to jump around and watch TV! He doesnt want to go outside or go anywhere after school plus he is tired. I count the minutes till bedtime. I cant "play" with my older son really in a way that makes him happy becasue of the other 2. Any games we start, I always end up trying to break up fights etc. Does anyone else have this type of thing going on. I feel ike I am failing at so many things and I am wishing the days away......

ask the school if they have any after school activities, my ds's school does football once a week straight after school (ds is a too young yet though), also see what your local leisure centre do or what about beavers/cubs/Karate lessons? once he starts going he will want to go every week, i think its just the getting kids there thats the problem, when they know how much fun they have you cant get them to go home

this is why the Wii exists

Couldn't you ask one of the other children in his class back to play with him? Might help him get to know other children better too and they would (hopefully) play together leaving you to deal with the other two!

Ooops forgot about my name change , hope you're not offended !

What's wrong with him watching telly and jumping around? He has had a busy day.

My kids are similar ages. We walk home from school and stop at the park for 15 mins en route home. My 7yr old leaps around the house but I've limited his tv to one cartoon before dinner and one after. Lego keeps him busy but I've enrolled him in a football club starting in Jan and he goes to BB a night as well. Its now too dark for him to play outside with pals and one more kid in our living room would be a squeeze.
We're getting a wii at christmas can't wait.

Thank you for all your messages. You are right - let him watch TV, he's really tired. But I also feel I wish he would do more of the types of things I think he should be enjoying - reading, legos, play with the other 2 etc... I guess I also feel isolated, i don't have any friends, so we never have anyone over after school - we live in America - hard to break into a group - so maybe i am taking my frustration out on him a bit?

deffo let him do what he wants after school even it is just watch tv. At 7 school is exhausting. He is still only little.
