I just bought a grey tunic from John Lewis and is really shoddy so I am going to take it back but now I have to find somewhere else to buy from.

Any ideas?

M&S is OK and BHS even better - their trousers last for ever.

I usually get mine from either M&S or Tesco. Both seem fine.

I like BHS for trousers/skirts and this year got the polo shirts from Debenhams and they wash and wear well.

I bought DD's from Next this year, have never thought of them for uniform before but am impressed with it, all washes well and is still looking brand new

I have some stuff from asda (trousers and skirts) and tesco(pinafores) and cardies from M&S. I get the polo shirts from the schoolwear shop

M&S for us.

I like Trutex stuff! My girls are at boarding school but have quite a relaxed every day uniform.

Their M&S skirts and Trutex everything else survives the rigours of the school industrial laundry (ontop of what the kids do it as well)! I even pass most bits of uniform down to my youngest as well as it lasts so well.

It can be found in some John Lewis stores but I tend to buy it from online from The School Uniform Shop

I have used them alot and not had any problems.

Or contact Trutex and ask them where your nearest stockist is!

Hey, thanks for the Trutex link slummymummy - good to see lots of organic / fairtrade cotton stuff - I've never seen them mentioned before and most of the other organic school uniform suppliers are wildly expensive and usually sold out.

Thanks everybody - looks like I can get shopping!

I watched one of the consumer programs on TV about this and Tesco came on top for durability, correct sizing, little shrinking, and I think the other criteria was not needing too much ironing. And price.

Tesco came on top, M&S sizing was on the big and their clothes shrank a lot in normal wash dry and I think they were bottom. I think john lewis was second. Anyway, I get ours from Tesco because that's where I do the shopping and it's easier.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 30/11/2009 10:57

I have found M&S trousers are good, but their polo shirts are rubbish - our have shrunk a little bit, the sizing is not good and after a few weeks they look worn and tired. The logod ones we have from the school shop look a million times better.
