Please talk to me about Cranial Osteopathy

Hi, I will try and keep this short(ish).

My DS (now 6) had such a traumatic entry into the world, which I haven't really dealt with. I have spent most of the years dealing with what happened to me

DS was born using forceps after the discovered I had shoulder dystocia. The force used was horrific. Basically I was on the bed in the operating theatre with a male nurse either side holding my arms, 2 other nurses near my hips, pressing them into the bed to open up my pelvis and the the doc with the forceps, the force as he pulled DS out made me shoot down the bed.

To cut a long story short, DS was born with a two inch cut down his face (from the forceps) and his poor head was bruised for weeks (seriously black and blue).

At the time of DS birth I really hadn't heard of cranial osteopathy or Mumsnet (don't know how I coped). But looking back I feel it could really of helped.

DS was a horrendous sleeper as a baby. Even now we wakes up most nights, usually now just to ask a question about the moon or stars ?? (WTF)

But my question is (yes, I have eventually got around to it), could cranial osteopathy help now, could he still be suffering ? Generally he is a cracking little boy, he has delayed speech, but is Mr Average in his class, loads of friends etc.

Anyone? Would be very grateful to let me hear your experiences.

xx

My Dds both have had it as babies and still get it now. They are 11 and 8 yo. Nothing will be lost giving it a go, I highly recommend it.

Many thanks Cocolepew. I will have a look into some ostepaths in our area.

HI there, both mine have been to see a chiropractor specialising in working with babies and children. She fiddles about with all their joints and their heads - or at least that's what it looks like to me - but we have had benefit both times around with sleeping, feeding, and general development.

It is never too late to go and like an earlier post, nothing to lose, you will know when you go if it feels 'right' to you or if you think it's quackery.

Hi, my sister's dd was born by ventuose (sp?) and she took her for cranial Osteopathy to great results. They said she was quite damaged by the force used to yank her out and they worked wonders on my neice.

I also had it for my dd, they discovered her pelvis was distorted due to her birth.

It is really worth going. The one we went to was in manchester and was a charity so you only paid what you could afford.

Good luck

Brilliant, thank you ladies. I was just wondering if DS would still benefit at 6, but you have confirmed what I was already thinking and will track down a cranial osteopath in the Toon.

Thanks again.

You gotta love Mumsnet !
