So disappointed with lollipop pop-n-gro

I am just so

First DCs, twins, determined to use washables. This was before I discovered Mumsnet.

Went to a Nappicino party and got the hard sell on how fabulous they are. Bought 2 trugs - £500!!! Budgeted hard for them, and justified it because of the savings.

I was told they would fit babies from 7lbs - DT1 now nearly 11lbs and they still leak.

Also, the elastic at the back is too narrow and digs into the babies' back. I WISH I had just bought a couple to try first but I wanted to have them all pre washed and ready, and I trusted the Lollipop lady who said they were ace.

I'm and and that I was so stupid. So cross she didn't suggest just trying a couple when the twins arrived to see if they suited us.

Any ideas what I can do with 40 pop and gro's? Anyone else using them and not having a problem with the elastic digging in to their little one?

Ring Lollipop Head Office tomorrow - they will sort it out 01736 799512/3

Will they?

I just feel such a chump for buying so many without trying them first.

And I had read great reviews of them online.

Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong that makes the elastic too tight? - And yet they still leak...

I will call tomorrow. Thanks Octo. Lollipop have been totally lovely up till now so maybe they will be able to help.

They may ask that you contact your advisor first - but as the manufacturer they may just deal with it. Personally I wouldn't use a pop n gro on a baby under ten pounds and def not on little twins - but the babies will be little for a very short time and will fit them to toilet training.

The nappies do need about 8 washes to get them to absorbency - so I think maybe a combo of the size of the little ones and getting to absorbency level may be the issue - I haven't heard of problems with the elastic - it could be that they are being put on too tight to compensate for the size/worrying about leaks - not your probelm though. has the advisor checked fit for you?

Lollipop do have great customer service and I am sure they will sort it all out.

Ditto to everything that Octo has said. I have sold loads of pop'n'gros and have lots of happy customers. But as Octo said - they do needs loads of washing - at least 8-10 washes - nappy and inserts. Are you using a booster in them yet - I would recommend starting with the bamboo booster and folding it in half and putting it at the front of the nappy. The microfibre booster would make them a bit too bulky would imagine, but doubling up the bamboo booster works well.

I can't understand why the elastic is digging in, unless you are doing it up too tight at the front. These nappies fit my 4+ year old when we go camping so tehy really shouldn't be tight on a little baby.

And finally, where are the leaks? Are they at the legs? Or does it seem to be leaking straight through the cover? Is teh nappy and insert soaked when you take the nappy off? These would all help to pinpoint exactly what might help.

It's the leg holes that are still too big. I think Octo is right and I'm maybe doing the velcro up too tight to try to prevent leaks. perhaps the problem is just that they are still too big, I've put the bamboo insert in, which helped to stop the leaks, but it was hard to arrange the insert so none of it was sticking out of the nappy, so wee wicked out and soaked DTs clothes. I will try the bamboo insert folded at the front, thanks.

The other tip is that when you do them up, bring the velcro tabs up from underneath. They will be angled on a diagonal slant upwards towards the middle - does that make sense, rather than meeting straight across the middle. That will help to stop the leg holes gaping - its the same for many velcro nappies / wraps.

I must say that I am also very disspointed with mine, lucky I only have 2. I have 2 kids of different ages and sizes thought and they leak badly on both of them. The wee goes straight through the cover like its not even waterproof. After about half hour it is all wet on the outside, like a fitted nappy that needs a wrap would be. Its a shame as they sounded good. They have had 20+ washes and it has made no difference.

Really hope you get this sorted as £500 is such a lot of money. Please don't let it put you off reusables though as we use cloth with both of ours very sucessfully
