My DS is 2.3 years and is allowed to watch half an hour or so of a DVD before bed. he loves Peppa Pig but if i hear that theme tune every single night i may go bonkers. he also loves Thomas the Tank Engine.
can anyone recommend some other DVDs suitable for this age? not that keen on In the Night Garden.

Tom & Jerry
We let DD watch a part of a film before bed and the film will normally last 2/3 nights. Just finished Toy story2.

We had a video of A Very Hungy Caterpillar, which DD liked, and a couple of her friends watched every day without fail around that age. There are a couple of other stories on it too, by Eric Carle. It is quite relaxing.

At that age my little boy (now 3.3) loved:
Maisy
Kipper
Winnie the Pooh
Percy the Parkkeeper

And his favourite film was Finding Nemo

I also liked putting on Spot's Abc and 123 which was good as it taught him his alphabet!

I tried to keep his viewing to things that were either charming and sweet and which taught good morals/kindness, or that were undercover-educational

Mine is also a big Toy Story 2/Buzz Lightyear fan!

we used to have a couple of BBC Children's Favourites comilations videos, which were lovely - lots of different children's progammes on one tape. Just checked Amazon, but only has 2nd hand videos, doesn't look like they've carried on doing them on DVDs. Perhaps someone else knows of similar? I liked them because of the variety on one tape.

Bod
And Fingerbobs, but it is TEDIOUS for grownups.
Little ones don't seem to mind the 1970s clunkiness at all.

Pingu a BIG hit here, in nice 5 minute bursts so easy to terminate.
Films - My neighbour Tortoro and any of the Shrek movies as long as I fast-forward anything with Pinocchio in

Lost anf Found, adapted from the book of the same name is absolutely LOVELY - and we enjoy it too. Narrated by Jim Broadbent and very gentle (but a scary moment with an octopus!) You will def find it on amazon.

My DS (nearly 2) loves Ivor the Engine and Happy Feet, and is pretty keen on Finding Nemo.
He also likes Tom & Jerry and Kung-fu Panda but is not so keen on Merrie Melodies.

Tractor Ted DVDs are brilliant. Autumn is the most popular here because it involves lots of different tractors. Spring is good for cute animals.

thumbwitch · 18/11/2009 11:17

oh yes - and Shaun the Sheep. If we could get Timmy Time on DVD, he would love that too. We used to watch it on BBC iplayer in the UK but can't get it now we're in Australia
