Help with babasling- I appear to be useless

Hello my very little DS doesn't like to be put down at all and I am happy to carry him (not that all the adults in my life think that I am doing the right thing but i can't believe letting a 3 week old baby cry and get in such a state that he scratches at his own face is the right thing either) anyway gone slightly off the point.
I bought a babasling after reading some other post about similar babies and how this way I can get my arms back- but when I've tried to use it I feel either that DS has been entirely swallowed by the thing or he is precariously balanced with his head in at a very strange angle??!! I really want to get it right as I think it would be such a help but clearly I am useless (and slightly neurotic)- any advice would be great x

No, you are not useless, it's the sling. I had one and found it dreadful.
Try a wrap sling like a Moby or a baby carrier

Fruitbatlings · 16/11/2009 18:22

That should be a close baby carrier

Sorry, but I agree - I had one too and found it useless until DS was old enough to sit upright. I wished I had bought a close.

It's the sling, not you.

Most people I've come across who've tried a Babasling hate it. They say it's bulky, uncomfortable, can't be adjusted while on, and is expensive for the use you get out of it.

I agree you would be better off with a stretchy wrap or a Close.

If you look here you'll find information about slings and here you'll find out about sling meets.

I struggled in the beginning but got it right at about 3 weeks. Actually I really, really hated it.

But now I love it I found the koala cuddle the only way to carry DS for ages. Until one day when he was sleeping I slipped him round into sleeping tiger with his head completely covered up.

He loved to sleep in there like that. It was great when we were out as I'd put him in Koala, then slip him round into a covered up sleeping tiger and he's sleep quite happily in there after a bit of a rock. Many a meal out was spent with DS sleeping in the sling.

As long as you have the sling tight enough against you then it should work.

DS is 7mo now and occasionally when he won't sleep I'll pop him in sleeping tiger with his face covered and he'll doze off.

I found it ok as well - it has really come into its own now at 18months when we dont take the buggy somewhere.

Have a look on the website for different positions...

Thank you I should have asked you guys before I bought it!!! I will check the website and look at the other slings- I do like the idea of the stretchy ones I think that is more what i thought this one would be like x
