One size nappies

Does anyone else find it hard to believe that one size nappies really are one-size nappies

my 14m toddler is only 9th centile for weight so not big for his age and I only just get the one size nappies on him. How on earth are they meant to last til potty training ? Or am I being really thick and doing something wrong?

What nappies are they? I think onelife and motherease are way too small to last but my onesize pockets Bumgenius/Coolababy/Blueberries go ok til about 30lb then get tight around the leg.

They do tend to change shape as they go from baby to toddler.

DS3 was in BumGenius one-sizes from a few weeks - 7lb or so. And DS2 was in them at two-and-a-half and he is pretty average size.

You'll find your baby will slim down on walking and completely change shape. You can buy extenders that clip on the popppers of the Motherease One Size to give you a bit of extra width.

Octothebaglady · 15/11/2009 10:57

I agree with ariela - babies def slim down - my ds seems much slimmer now at 2 1/2 - he was on large fuzzis at 14 months and still wears them on the tightest setting - and they are the old style pointy tab ones which were slightly smaller than the square tab ones.

Ineedsomesleep · 15/11/2009 11:04

My motherease lasted me until potty training. Your baby will change shape as they walk more and you should be fine. Both of my kids were potty trained by 25 months, I think it was using cloth nappies that helped.

My onesized pockets have fitted dd3 until potty training, she was 2.1 when when she pt'ed and her weenotions, blueberries and upsy daisy onesized nappies all fitted with room to spare

LittlePants · 16/11/2009 13:50

The only one my team's found which really fits a chunky toddler is the P'tits Dessous mini-maxi onesize pocket one. Now that's a very generously proportioned one on it's fulest setting, but it also fits pretty neatly in a fairly tiny infant

thedaleksarecoming · 16/11/2009 17:52

You would say that though, Littlepants, seeing as how you are probably the only UK stockist of them.

I sold my P'tits Dessous mini-maxis on pretty quickly - they were ok, just not a great fit on either the (tiny) baby or the almost potty-trained toddler. Much prefer BGs.

ziggyf · 17/11/2009 11:28

My BG's still fitted my tall but skinny 2 year old a few weeks ago with room to spare but I always found sized nappies and also two part systems (esp. tots bots bamboozles + ME wrap) much more reliable. Might just be his shape though, he has very slim legs so a lot of nappies leaked round them.

DS is/was pretty big, and his MEOS lasted till he was out of day nappies at 2. But I remember thinking that they would never last that long - until he started running round all the time and slimmed down

domesticextremist · 17/11/2009 11:38

Agree with everyone else about motherease - stick with it - it will be ok. My dd ((lb+ at birth) was huge at 8-9 months but once she started walking she slimmed down and is now much leaner iyswim at 18months and the nappies fit fine on the same setting.
