Babygros - how long is it acceptable to wear them?

DS2 is 6 months old.

I have an attic full of DS1's old clothes, but I just never have a chance to get up there to sort through them. Also, I find it much easier to dress DS2 in babygros all the time. They're warm, I don't have to worry about little socks falling off, he's not mobile yet so doesn't need footwear/padding.

But other babies of his age always seem to be dressed in proper outfits - tops, trousers, socks.

Obviously I give DS a clean babygro morning and evening (and whenever it gets wet or food-covered).

Is it OK to keep your children in babygros until they become impractical for them ie when they're pulling to stand etc?

Am I committing some horrific social faux-pas (?spelling), like wearing my pyjamas to Tesco?

Wow I never even thought of this with my DC's, they just stayed in them for as long as possible. Bloody great invention!

dungarees over babygros are great for winter.

I love DS (just turned 1) in babygrows, although when he was 8 months or so I did have a random strange man come up to me in Tescos and say 'he's ready for bed!' (it took me a while to twig what he meant, but then I was strangely ).

I find now he's busy crawling though that he ends up crawling 'into' them and then its hard for him to stand up.

I had one without feet at age 15 - my parents bought me it from marks and spencer! it was kind of baby blue fleece btu was very warm. I reckon they would be quite warm on a winters evening but would probably raise an eyebrow if i answered the door to the postie in one!

I had one as a teenager as well but found it v inconvenient to go to the loo at night as it needed to be "un popped" all the way down and our non centrally heated house was v v cold.

I always wondered why there wasn't some sort of flap!

DS I think was in them pretty much all the time until about 9 months and I felt guilty.
Now I have DD, she's only 8 weeks and she's only worn an ' outfit' 3 or 4 times (she was given a couple of dresses that were too nice not to try). Other than that, I don't feel guilty! She too has jeans - they will be passed on to someone else unworn I think

As long as you want to. Never mind anyone else. only slovenly if you've done it cos you can't be bothered to do anything else and even then you probably couldn't be bothered because you were just plain exhausted from all the sleep dep and jobs! I've just stopped ds in babygros because I can't be doing with so many poppers with such a wriggler! Should be fresh babygro though!
