Mums who haven't cut DS' hair yet... advice please!

Hi!
My DS is 18m with straight hair at the front & curly at the back.
I love long hair on boys (my DH also happens to have long hair!) so as yet we haven't cut it.
I just need to know from other mums with long haired boys how you kept hair out of their eyes? Obviously can't use clips like you would with girls!
I've clipped his hair back after washing it which has worked a couple of times but before long it's down by his eyes again.
I'm open to trimming his 'fringe' but don't want to take him to a hairdresser and my cutting skills are limited!

I used to cut DS's fringe only - wet it, then clip back the hair at the sides leaving only the fringe, and then cut across. Make sure you don't take too much off as it will spring up when it dries.

I trim my DS' fringe,sit him in his highchair with some toys,wet his hair then go for it.

I am almost at having to cut my ds's fringe, he is 16 months and has curly hair at the front, i think ill make my mum do it

I trim ds's hair myself, little and often and it looks fine, although I do get the odd amused comment of "have you been cutting his hair again?" when we have a wonky fringe day . I do it on the patio.

When I took him to the hairdressers just before his 2nd birthday I had to put my foot down and stop him giving him a no.1, just got him to trim round his ears then we got the hell out of there.

He's just like a RL Sindy doll , but the hair grows back.

Your DS's hair sounds just like how mine was. Straight at the front and curly at the back.
I used to just trim his fringe then chop into it a bit (scissors pointing inwards and snip into edge) to take away the rule edge look!
Eventually I caved to pressure. The curls began to drop more as it got thicker and with having big round eyes and long eyelashes, he was always mistaken for a girl !
He was just over 2 and I took him to the hairdressers and got a boys cut. I hated it for days then realised he suited it. Warning though, that type of hair never grows back curly again so snip with caution!
