Any method to teach children how to read in French?

My children are learning to read in english using the jolly phonic method where they hear letters as a sound and mime it.

Is there any similar approach for reading french?
Any easy easy one?

Don't honestly know the answer to this question, but didn't want your thread to be ignored ...

FWIW I quite like the approach of glenn Doman's "How To Teach Your Baby To Read", which can be adapted to French fairly easily - but I am aware that it is the antithesis of a phonics-based method, so may not be your thing.

Hope you get some more useful resonses soon!

I like the look of that. How old was your child when you started using it?

Also, the site doesn't say how to get a set if you are in the UK. Is it sold in any shops, do you know, or by any other companies?

By "only website" I mean, if you want to buy it new, do you have to order direct from the makers?

Second-hand is a bit hit and miss, plus maybe not a guaranteed success if you are buying a children's game with lots of small parts ...

I am buzzing[smile}...finding resources for learning to read in french, and this site, which allows children to practice independently is well worth a look: www.kikook.com/index.html

Pitchounette, I think you are onto a winner!
The simpler the better!

How is the reading going with your dcs?
Do you spend a long time on it?
Did they do any of their schooling in France?
enough questions!

Have a nice evening
