choking

Hi,

Ihave just read this tragically sad story in DM (i know I shouldn´t even read it!) about a little girl choking on a Hot Dog.
What do you do if your child starts choking on food - I know you throw them over your knee and slap them on the back, but what if it doesn´t work?

You can do children's first aid courses if you are worried. St. John's Ambulance run them. Perhaps you could get together with a few other parents and do one together?

A first Aid course sounds good - although am not in UK....

I used to run short "save a life courses" with St John Ambulance. I always used to say that anyone who was a parent, aunt, uncle or had anything to do with children ever, should do a course. I can't understand why people don't tbh.

I did a children's first aid course, but they didn't include the Heimlich manoeuvre. I've always been paranoid about choking, and looked everywhere to find somewhere that taught it, but couldn't find anywhere. (I'm also not in the UK). I don't think I'll ever feel safe till I've done the Heimlich on a dummy...
