*Last Chance to Sign Childminder Petition*

Hi, the petition to make childminders exempt from EYFS is ending on Sunday 20 September.

For those of us who choose childminders because they want a home-from-home, informal setting for their children, EYFS is removing this option. It is making childminders work in the same way as nurseries, following the same structure and observing and assessing our children.

Also it is creating ridiculous amounts of paperwork for our childminders - way too much to expect of a single self employed person.

If you agree have your say today and sign the petition here:

Having just been up until midnight filling in my sodding self evaluation form I have to say please sign. There are loads of fantastic childminders giving up.

one of my mates is a cm and the stuff she has to do is madness. If I used a cm it would be because I want them to be in a home environment not a school like one

I'm in Scotland so not applicable, but if I were in England and under EYFS then I wouldn't sign it as I think that anything that helps us to gain respect for being professionals is a good thing.

taffy101 · 20/09/2009 16:25

i can appreciate that strictly.

Not trying to start a debate here though, just trying to make it known that EYFS is not wanted by everyone - some of us want a choice about it, either as parents or childminders
