Hey ladies,

Would you mind doing me a massive favour? I have entered my son, Kieran, into the Sun's "Sunbeams" competition. Voting online is for 1 week only and the top 100 entries will be decided before going to a telephone vote.

To vote, please go to sunbeams.thesun.co.uk/gallery.php and search for 'KIERAN WALPOLE'. Click on his picture and you will see the button to vote.

To access the vote button without having to search (you won't see his picture if you follow this link): sunbeams.thesun.co.uk/vote.php?name=KIERAN%20WALPOLE&id=242933

Thanks so much, I owe you all one! xxx

christ some poeple have their knickers in a twist.
FGS get over yourself and stop having a go. So you don't like the paper, so what, stop implying that the op is some kind of bad person just because of the paper she reads.
i thought the whole point of mn was so people could interact with each other, if this thread isn't up to your usual high standards then move on...

EyeballsintheSky · 10/09/2009 23:11

So what? Does it really matter? And if this forum is simply here for advice then 75% of the threads ought to be deleted because they have bugger all to do with parenting.

FWIW I also think it's a shite comic, I wouldn't wipe my arse with it. But who are you to tell someone what to read or where their child should appear? You don't want to play? Fine, so don't open the thread and start giving out to other people. It's such a mean spirited, holier than thou attitude.

logi · 10/09/2009 23:56

done hes very sweet,good luck.

have voted, he's very cute!

donnaw25 · 11/09/2009 08:04

I'm sorry if my post has caused such a stir. FYI I haven't joined just to ask for votes. I joined several months ago and am mostly found in the for sale section.

At the end of the day, if you don't think my little one is cute, then don't vote. All I have done is post a link, I am not badgering anybody or forcing anybody to do something against their wish. As others have said, my post is just one post out of several, if you don't like the look of it, don't read it.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but I think what I have done is harmless to be honest and there are far worse things happening in the world...

Once again, thanks to all those who have looked and voted xx

We've had the argument on here before. It's cheating really isn't it? So if you win, it's not because your child IS the cutest, it's because you cheated!

50ftQueenie · 11/09/2009 08:47

My problem is that it is for a prize of £1000 worth of vouchers. If it was just for kudos or a small token then fine, whatever. It just seems underhand and as Portofino says, cheating when you would gain financially from the win.

BonsoirAnna · 11/09/2009 08:56

My God, I am stunned at the number of little girls called Aaliyah (and variations thereof!).

mamadiva · 11/09/2009 08:58

Agree it is cheating to gain a financial profit so to speak.

It's up to you and I imagine that most of the other parents will be doing the same but family and friends voting is different to asking strangers on the internet!

People normally only ask if it's a daft little competition where DC's can win a toy for example not when you win £1000 essentially!

EyeballsintheSky · 11/09/2009 09:17

I'm amazed that everyone who thinks it's underhand and cheating thinks it's ok to judge a baby on how cute they are. I did vote because it's no skin off my nose but actually, that would be my primary concern. And I would lay money on the fact that the child who wins will be the child whose parents canvassed the most people, let's not be naive about it.

And it's a competition, not major fraud. All a bit of an overreaction, wouldn't you say?

50ftQueenie · 11/09/2009 09:27

I never said that I thought it was ok to judge a child on their looks.

noddyholder · 11/09/2009 09:28

Distasteful to pit children against each other based on what they look like and in the hope of winning money .

geordieminx · 11/09/2009 09:35

The same link is also posted on digitalspy... and a parrot forum....PMSL

donnaw25 · 11/09/2009 09:36

Actually it is the modelling contract I am hoping to be in with a chance of winning (although the vouchers would come in handy too). Where we are based, there are no child modelling agencies and of those that are around further afield, you have to live within a certain distance of them before they will even see the child.

If you think I'm cheating by doing what many, many other parents around the country are doing, then don't vote. If you think I'm exploiting my child, then don't vote. If you think I'm cheeky for asking, then don't vote. But if you genuinely do think my son would be worthy of the modelling contract and should be in with a chance of getting through to the next round, then please vote.

Have voted - he's beautiful!!

moanieminny · 11/09/2009 09:58

no harm in voting and he´s cute!

Portofino · 11/09/2009 10:35

LOl at Parrot forum!

It's still cheating! There was a call to MNHQ to ban this sort of thing.

If your child is cute enough to model, then get off your backside and go see an agency. If you can't travel to visit an agency, then how could you honestly expect to get any modelling work?

serajen · 11/09/2009 10:48

voted, he's lovely, good luck

donnaw25 · 11/09/2009 10:51

Portofino, nothing to do with me not getting off my bum and travelling ... you have to LIVE within a certain distance of the agencies, so whether or not you can travel to them doesn't come into it.

Thanks electra, moanieminny and serajen x

I don't read The Sun and personally would never put my child up for this sort of competition BUT the OP's baby is as a cute as a button and what's the harm? As someone pointed out above, everyone else in the competition will be canvassing for votes through whatever channels available. As they say where I come from, shy bairns get nowt! Good luck donnaw25...

ZacharyQuack · 11/09/2009 13:01

I voted for Kieran Webster. That's one cute baby

Portofino · 11/09/2009 13:06

I voted for one of the Aaliyahs. She was very cute too.

busybutterfly · 11/09/2009 23:36

Voted for young Master Walpole. Good luck!
