Is it unusual that I've never heard my children (8 and 6) say a swear word?

In Germany people say it is a normal phase they go through in which they will say swear words. But my dd's have never said any, ever (in my presence that is, or dh's). Are they the exception?

Don't think my parents ever heard me swear until I was at university

I can't say it would worry me if my children never swore in my presence, I'm sure they'll find other ways to shock me!

No, they don't swear in front of us but it reminds me of a time when I nearly died on the spot.

After a long day my kids were getting into the car outside my parents' house. Mum and Dad waiting to wave us off and DS shouted out "Mum, DD called me a fucker". The colour drained from my face and I said "W H A T did you say" (why do we say that? so they say it again? LOL).

And DS said "she called me a Fucker".

"No I didn't Mum, I called him a sucker" (the latest phrase from Zac and Cody).

DS has a slight speech impediment in that he can say S very well and says fwimming, not swimming.

I scraped my Mum off the drive and drove away!

can't say S ... is what I meant to say
