Hi am due dc3 in 5 weeks and have decided to baby wear and got a moby wrap which I cant wait to wear.Havent bought a carrycot for my pram so my question is did any of you not like baby wearing and go to use a buggy instead?Should I get carrycot for pram just in case I don`t like it or not?

I tried number 3 in a sling as numbers 1 and 2 were under 3 when he was born and were in the double buggy. But I did find the sling heavy on my shoulders and hot n sweaty (he was born during a heatwave). Did it a few times then heaved number 1 out of the buggy and put number 3 in.
That wilkinet cost a fortune too!

That is very true (all babies being different)

DD3 didn't like swaddling either, she screamed and screamed until we gave up, and then went straight to sleep nicely when we took the sheet off
Unlike the twins who both wouldn't sleep a wink unless they were swaddled really tightly!

DD3 also would have hated baby wearing - she loves her freedom. Never has been very touchy-feely.

My friend never got on with a sling simply because she had sore nipples and it rubbed uncomfortably. By the time the nipples were healed the baby had got used to being in a buggy.
I sometimes used to go out with a sling and a buggy, then if I was getting the bus I'd have the baby in the sling so my hands were free to fold the buggy and heave it onto the bus.

Yes,every baby different DS1 didnt mind buggies but DD hated them but hadnt discovered slings then so had to persist and suffer with screaming baby she didnt give up easily. So maybe this one will hate sling and like buggy lets wait and see.Agree buggy will be good for going shopping cant imagine carrying baby and lots of bags. Thanks for all your experiences.
Moby wrap feels very soft will try and get a didy wrap when older if he likes it.Didnt know there were so many different ones shame you cant find them in shops.

I spent ££££ buying all sorts of slings for my DD1, but it was a complete waste of money as my DD hated being in them (she also hated being swaddled or cuddled too, but insisted on being carried on my shoulder most of the time). I also found most slings gave me a bad back. So they were never used.

DD2, just went in the buggy, and she was happy. Incidentally, she was far happier than DD1 ever was - but I think that is down to personality. Even now at almost 6 and almost 3, DD2 has the easy going personality whereas DD1 is much more uptight about things.

I agree with PPs, babies all come with their own personalities - DD1 has always liked her own space and doing things her own way, DD2 has always been happy with whatever goes. If you're not sure what you want to do, wait until the baby comes and take it from there.

I have always used both. With ds I had a heavy travel system (thanks to MIL insisting she knew what I needed) and a wrap. By the time dd was born the travel system was long since sold and had been replaced by a buggy that was not suitable until around 6 months. I didn't buy anything right away and slung dd with ds in the buggy but did buy a P&T after a while as I found that sometimes it just isn't practical to have a sling (like when you are trying to do all your supermarket shopping on foot!) and sometimes you just want a bloody break and not have the baby strapped to you 24/7! Mind you dd didn't take kindly to being in a sling unless asleep, and she didn't really sleep...at all...ever, and I got rather fed up of having a screaming baby in a sling all the time.

I loved my sling, but also my pram. I found the biggest problem with the sling was carrying all the other stuff you need with a baby, although I did always take out more than I needed (pfb)
Pushchair/pram essential for shopping trips imo.
I had a moby and it was fab, carried dd until she was about 1 in it. Check out utube for some good vids of people tying it in different ways.

I love my sling and my pram and couldn't do without either of them. DD always looks so comfortable in the pram and sleeps and sleeps. She is OK in the sling, she doesn't cry, but doesn't sleep well either. I use the sling when I'm walking the dogs and in places where a pram is too difficult to use.
