My kids today have been over joyed at a "camp" made from putting two sheets up either side of thier bunk bed to enclose the bottom bunk.

Also havng fresh bedding on thier beds they think is a treat even though it gets done every week.

Things like putting on music full blast and having a mad dance they think is great.

What things do your kids think are fab even though they are uite simple and sometimes every day sort of things?

Me and my girl spend Friday nights from around 6pm in bed together. We do whatever she wants...reading, drawing, playing board games, talking, playing word games, watching dvds, whatever.

We started the Fridays as a stealth homework exercise, but dd's not daft...she twigged it and has now taken over. She likes the element of control.

sitting in the front seat of the car pretending to drive it

walking in the woods and collecting stuff (pine cones, acorns, feathers).

being allowed to use grownup version of something he has a child version of (eg normal stainless steel teaspoon instead of baby spoon for tea)

jumping on/rolling around on beds

cracking eggs when im cooking

finding beetles, worms, spiders etc in the garden

going to building sites and staring in deep admiration at diggers

"on the swings" obviously.

And going out in his backpack rather than pushchair.

Loud music in the kitchen. We started it off by playing 'ca plane pour moi oooooooh oooh woooooh oooooh', and it took off as a family habit from there.

My list would be a combination of most of the ones that have gone before

I have to say that motherhood seems fantastic when you do something simple and your dc's face lights up.. makes you feel so special.

having new sand for the sandpit.

helping to load/unload washing machine.

My boys (10 and 12) think it's a real treat on fortnightly Sunday mornings I cook them a 'full English breakfast' if they strip their beds, load the linen in the w/m, and put on clean sheets by 9am

ds2 also thinks it's a treat to be allowed to go in the garden, harvest the rhubarb, bring it in, wash it, trim it, chop it, cook it, and serve it for tea

I'm still working on making ironing a treat, but I haven't got there yet!

'Real' cooking - I provide a selection of measuring spoons, bowls, rolling pin, baking trays, cutters plus bowls of flour, oats, food colouring, water etc.
An hour later I wander back to see what has been made (always a sticky gooey mess).

They LOVE it, it gives me an hour of peace and quiet.

Although I now allow dd to do it inside, outside is best
