Hi
My 15wk old loves his swing and often falls asleep in it. If i turn the swinging motion off he wakes up soon after. I leave it on the lowest position but its stil quite fast.
Should i turn it off? Or is it ok to leave it on?
Sorry for such a simple Q!!!!

wellbalanced - I used to worry like you as my DS would sleep for hours in the swing while it's swinging and if I turned it off, he woke up! As long as you check that his head is well supported (not turned to one side all the time etc, I used to use a goi goi pillow) and he is properly secured, I wouldn't worry. I gave up stressing in the end. What broke the 'habit' in the end was that we travelled longhaul when he was 4 months old (I was desperate to bring either the swing or the baby hammock he slept in but both were too big!) and he started sleeping in the travel cot while we were away and I never looked back since.

I agree. No harm in letting them sleep in the swing. My DD is not an easy napper and the swing is a lifesaver. Dr Harvey Karp of 'The Happiest Baby on the Block' recommends it and even says they can sleep in it all night if necesary. I haven't done that but I certainly have no issues with using it when needed if baby is getting some quality sleep as a result.
