Hello ladies,

I had my gorge wee boy on 1st june, he will be 8 weeks old tomorrow, i am totally besotted by him, he has brought soo much joy to me and my hubby.

He has been a happy wee chappy no bother at all, he has had trouble since he was born trying to bring up his wind and soo wev been using infacol. The past week or soo he has been really unsettled and crying which just isnt like him at all, spoke to health visitor and she says its a touch ov colic.

Im just wondering if anyone has gone through this with their babys and how long does it last, i feel usless that i cant help him and me and hubby are worn out, we are using gripe water now at everyfeed 2, aswell as infacol and also as hv suggested giving him cooled boiled water between feeds too, we try sitting him upright and spend ages trying to get his wind up.
I hope it will pass soon he seems to be in soo much pain.

Thanks any help apriciated.

I remember this stage, and doing all of the things you are mentioning, gripe water in the bottle, infacol before and during the feed; massaging his back with him lying on his tummy, sitting up, or against my shoulder; also what you are saying about your DC waking as soon as you lay in down in his cot. I found it helpful to put my DS in to his chair to sleep rather than on his back in his cot.

The good news is that 6 - 8 weeks is the worst period for colic, and it gets better by about 3 months.

Did giving a double dose of infacol, then feeding him half the bottle, burping him, giving the other half, burping again, leaving him for 10 minutes followed by gripe water, waiting 5 mins and burping again make a difference or not?

I know Avent bottles say they are supposed to reduce colic but i don't know any babies where Avent bottles have helped with colic. Most of my friends who had colicky babies got on well with Munchkin bottles, Breastflow bottles, the TT closer to nature anti-colic bottles or the Mothercare's own version anti-colic bottles. They also found this to be good (you can get them cheaper on Ebay)

hiya again nappy addict,

Yes it helped alot i tried this with ds this morning and he seemed to get his wind up much easier. Was still abit hard getting that last bit up but it did eventually come!!!!!
Thanku soo much, feel much better soo ill be using this method again and again!!!

Thanks applepudding for your comment too, its soo great to hear that the colic does seem to pass after 3 months, it is just soo hard and soo upsetting for my ds and me and hubby. We want to start enjoying our son again, not that we arnt now but its just been hard this last week or soo.

The good news is colic usually disappears by about 16 weeks so your halfway through! Have you tried any other bottles?
