How do you manage to get your shower?

Assuming we're not all scummy mummies (although hygiene is not the priority it once was), what do you do with your baby/child while you grab a shower in the morning??

Sounds nice KBear. Can she come round here?

I shower in the morning before dh leaves for work so he is responsible for them. Though, if he has already left, I'm afriad I just get on with it and leave the children unattended. When they were babies, I either took them into the bathroom with me, or left them on the bed

DD (3y 1m) sits in my bed and watches TV, or she gets in with me. And now she is older, I will leave her playing inher room/living room too - but we are in a one floor apartment, so no stairs to worry about.

When she was little, I would sit her in her wooden highchair, or her rocker chair - in the bathroom.

Or, I would run her a little bath and sit her in a baby bath seat at the bottom of the bath, whilst I showerred at the top end.

dd1 (aged three) watched CBeebies and/or plays. Dd2 (14 mo) sits in the top half of her high chair - we have one of those ones that convert into table and chair - in the shower room watching me!

I'm expecting no. 2 and have been wondering how to cope with this!

My dd is two and is happy to play in her room while I shower. Sometimes if she is constipated I stick her on the toilet (where she is STRANDED!) with a book while I shower!

When she was little I would lie her naked on the bathroom floor with a towel - I'm hoping the next one will be as amenable!

mp, I used to park dd2 in her Moses basket on the shower room floor.

Majority of time I swim at 7am so shower etc there while dh has the kids before he goes to work.

If I don't then I sometimes throw anything on and slap a bit of make up on to do the nursery run, then have a shower when I get back

OR

Get up before the kids do and have one then

Ds (3mo) sits in his bouncy chair in the bathroom, mesmerised by the noise of the shower. DD (3yo) watches Cbeebies, or plays. I'm trying to remember what I did with dd in the interval between outgrowing her bouncy chair and being able to crawl. Possibly she lay on the bathroom floor with toys. Once she could sit/crawl I used to shut all the landing doors except the bathroom, shut the stairgate, and put some toys on the landing. This will be trickier with ds as he'll have a sister opening doors and gates... may have to put him in his cot with some toys.

dd (3) just does whatever when I'm having shower. until ds (8 months) started crawling/standing up/climbing out of bouncy chair he sat in bathroom and watched but now I wait till he has his morning nap (or do it before he gets up).

hah, roisin, I didn't say they sat quietly and didn't argue.....
Gdg I'm very impressed with yr early mornign swim!

Caribbeanqueen · 19/05/2005 07:57

We have quite a big shower so dd comes in with me. She has lots of little cups and bottles in there and could play in there for hours.

Well since my two pulled the tv and attendant paraphenalia dowon on top of themselves earlier this week it's getting harder and harder for me to be as fragrant as I would like.
