Parents of two year olds - what is their favourite toy?

Dd's second birthday is fast approaching and I have no idea what to get for her ...

I was going to get her a balance bike, but she's too small, so I'm getting her that for Christmas instead.
I was going to get her a trampoline ...and then we got given one.
I thought about getting her a trike, but my mum has bought her one.

I'm now officially out of ideas ...

What is your 2yo's favourite toy?

Well, my 2yr old is nearly 3, but for several months now her faourite toy has been Baby Annabel

She likes Duplo too

Her big sisters have an array of dolls (Annabel, chou chou, baby born) so we don't need any more crying babies in the house, lol.

a 'parents' brand bee bop drum that is filled with toddler friendly musical toys. parent friendly? no, toddler friendly? oh yes! it mkes a racket!

The mini-micro is ace

Very low to the ground and light-weight

2 wheels at the front at an angle so great for balance

DD2 got the hang of hers pretty quickly at 2.6

Mini micro scooters are amazing, they seem to master them so quickly.

DS2 also loves books and puzzles. He is also especially fond of play kitchen type things.

Whatever you do, NEVER buy fuzzy felt.

Duplo has been a hit for months now here.
Play-dough is the current favourite thing to do.

Play -dough, sand pit, anything car related (likes to pretend he is driving it), stuff like mini farm with animals etc, books, jigsaws, building blocks.

Play kitchen. We got it for Chrismtas when DD1 was 22 months and DD2 was only 7 months but they both LOVE It and it has been played with every single day since. Bit pricey though depends what kind you get (ours was about £85 which is definitely not cheap but it's great here it is)

Otherwise any role play/pretend play stuff like kitchen toys, shop toys etc?

She has already got:

a megasketcher (well, it's big sisters really)
an aquadraw
a dollys buggy that she adores
playdough (which she just eats )
cars
little animals (big sisters again)

[spoilt child emoticon]

A kitchen is a great idea - I think she's love one!

So, I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to duplo, a scooter or a kitchen

Any more suggestions before I hit the shops ...?

we got DS2 a little wooden table top kitchen.

bigjigs do a wooden pot with a lid and two wooden eggs. he loves those.

he played lots with a teaset the last time we went to the toy shop.

wooden trains are a big hit. i don't know about girls though.

I don't go for the girl/boy divide when it comes to toys dragon, dd loves her cars and action figures etc. and every boy I've ever known fights over the dolls buggy at toddler group

I hadn't thought about a wooden train track, but will put it on the list to consider ...I think she'd love it! Thanks

me neither. i bought my boys a dolls house.

they play with the trains alot more though.

maybe all children like a good crash.

Yes, wooden trains. Both Tesco and Ikea do one that fits with (is the same gauge as, is that the right term??) the Brio ones. Ikea sell about 20 something bits of track a bridge and 4 trains for less than £10
