DD is 2.6
We've introduced pull ups, the potty, the toilet-with-a-thomas-seat-on.
Tomorrow I am starting no nappies. Bare bottom.

I take it this means I can't go out??
And if so, who else is going through it that would like to join in a thread with me???

Oh, that sounds horrible for you .

We thought that poo was going to be a problem with ds as we'd caught the odd wee by accident before starting properly but no poos. Luckily, we caught one on the first day and made such a fuss with lots of treats that it's not been a problem. I know that it's really common for them to not want to poo on the potty/toilet though.

Will nursery take the potty to her, ds isn't a fan of using it in dark and gloomy toilets? Ds also has been helped by having others at nursery at the same point and there's a little gang of them 'going for a wee'.

funtimewincies · 02/07/2009 13:41

We also started off rewarding (chocolate buttons ) just for sitting on the potty and 'having a go' and didn't switch to rewarding a wee/poo until 2 weeks in when he was happy with the potty thing.

Can I play?

Started 'training' dd1 2.10 yesterday as we've had a few failed attempts before.

I know it won't last but we've had all wees in the toilet so far. She asked for a nappy yesterday when we could see a poo was coming so let her have one.

Today though, she went off to the toilet on her own and did a poo. I was so proud I cried!! Didn't think she would ever do it as under docs and on movicol for last 6 months re constipation.

Going to try leaving the house tomorrow.

Thanks funtimewincies - good news, today was hard but we had a bit of a break through today.

Lots of accidents at nursery BUT she did ask to go to the potty woo hoo! AND at tea time she went to the potty on her own and did a poo, ok, so it was mostly in her trouers and she was really upset but by the time she was cleaned up, cuddled and had a sticker on her chart she was happy and proudly ran through to tell daddy.

I've never been so pleased about having to clean up poo!! Melmog, I understand!!

Took ds1 to school today as usual. ds2 as usual wanted to play with the kids. He joined the line of little-ies heading for their pipi break before starting class. I followed him in. He pulled down his nappy and his shorts, sat on a little loo, peed, pulled everything back up.

But will the little bleeder go anywhere near any kind of receptacle at home? Will he heck, I tell you, it's an attitude problem more than anything else! Maybe the solution is just to send him to school in September. He will be 2.3...

Don'k know if this is normal. After two poos on the toilet on Thursday, nothing except wee since.

Hmmm. She is on movicol already so shouldn't be constipated. Guess we have to wait?

Got a box of trinkety presents on the mantlepiece for when she does one in the toilet again.

can I join too,
this morning is P day (potty day)
no more nappies
DS2 is 2 years 9 months and have tried before with little success.
HOWEVER
so far this morning we have done 3 wees in the last 2 hours and he has decided now to just sit on the potty until another one comes because he wants another sweetie

I am guessing after 3 wees int hat time there probably isn't any more to come for a bit.

I think I will still put a nappy of for his afternoon sleep (2 hours) and for tonight overnight but I just want to stop with the day time nappies.

has anoyone graduated from the boot camp yet?

melmog · 06/07/2009 11:20

Had 2 more poos on toilet Saturday afternoon. Nothing since. I think she's just going to be an every other day girl!

One accident yesterday, but dry for a 2 1/2 hour nap.

Does anyone elses dc still ask for a nappy periodically? I'm tryng to distract her til she forgets about it at the moment.

First visit to friends for lunch today so very excited/nervous.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 06/07/2009 11:26

Hi melmog, we have just had another wee on the potty!!!!
I never thought I would be so excited about it

only another hour and a half until nap time, then I can relax

melmog · 06/07/2009 11:33

I never thought I would see the day when I was dancing around singing about wees and poos!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 06/07/2009 11:46

me neither.

Am I too late to join??? Been reading through messages and a bit scared but comforted at same time. DD is 2.3 (DD2 is 1....)we're doing big build up this week (bought knickers, toilet seat, been a bit firmer about potty - only 1 wee so far, still doing it in bath)and then going for it at weekend.

Have you all been staying in?

What do you do for sleeps? Nappies on. DD has one in the afternoon.

Am mainly doing this on Childminder's advice that she is '110%' ready....

xxxx

PS Has anyone read or would recommend ye old Gina Ford potty training book??

funtimewincies · 07/07/2009 20:52

We're still using nappies or pullups for sleep and we're 3 weeks into this. Sometimes they're dry after a nap, sometimes not, although I've managed to establish a 'sitting on the potty to catch the big morning wee' routine .

Ds is now reliably dry during the day, although he is only just beginning to ask for the potty himself. However, he'll use the toilet (with Potette seat on) while we're out and we've had no accidents while out and about.

This only cloud on our horizon is an ongoing issue with my mother who looks after ds occasionally. She wants him in pullups while at hers to protect her carpets. I've refused as it confuses him and he thinks that he's done something wrong not to be in big boy pants during the day and behaves badly and deliberately refuses to use the potty while at her house, making it a self-fulfilling prophecy .

melmog · 08/07/2009 08:44

Gardenangel4. Dh was off work for 4 days so we agreed to stay in for the duration so dd could be rudy nudy! It's really worked for us as she can now go off the the toilet by herself and sort herself out then I just need to clean her up if she's done a poo.

She's had a few sleeps now, in the car and on the sofa, with no accidents. Touching wood here!

She still has a nappy for bed though and I'll continue that til she's asking to go without. Or by school age.

I haven't read any books, just the wisdom of mumsnetters.

Funtimewincies, your Mum is making things really difficult for your ds. Can you avoid leaving him there til he's completely trained? He must be so confused when he's there, poor thing.

GardenAngel4 · 09/07/2009 21:38

Good to hear your messages. DD anounced this monring whilst on the toilet seat (at my suggestion not hers...yet) that she wanted to wear knickers NOW...so I went with it and we're off! Stayed in all morning - one hit one miss. Was at in laws this afternoon and she woke up from sleep too early had a meltdown and weed everywhere refusing to get on potty...didn't do one for rest of day...sigh..it's hard!!

Funtime I really feel for you and totally agree about the confusion thing. TOugh one if you do have to leave him there.
