DS (2yo) has always called various cartoon type creatures - dinosaurs on shoes, in books, and applique sharks on t shirts etc 'monsters' and makes a little roaring noise when he sees them.
This morning I was larking about in the bedroom, ds was sat on the bed, and as I opened the wardrobe I said 'Oh look, a monster's hiding in here, and pulled out the detachable furry collar of a cardigan from a shelf. He started crying covered his eyes and seemed really upset. I am distraught to think I've scared him, and worried about him having nightmares.
In retrospect, typing this, it sounds a silly thing to have done. But he's always loved mildly 'pseudo scary' games before and never shown any signs of being bothered.
Am I worrying too much? If not, how can I reassure him?
