Another suncream question

Hi. Sorry saw another thread similar but I am wondering if I can use a bottle of suncream that is from last year or quite possibly the year before?! If not, does anyone know why?

What factor does everyone use on their children? My 2 are fairly dark, when the were babies I always used factor 50 but people laughed at me! Is 20 or 30 reasonable?

I think it's supposed to be used within a year; it will go off after that. But it may say on the bottle - that funny cap symbol with a number next to it, showing number of months.

Personally, I buy new every year - not worth the risk, I don't think.

Once you get above Factor 20 or 30 the added benefits of higher SPF is negligible - I don't understand this but I have read it a number of times i.e. going from factor 30 to 70 only gives you 2% added protection or something.

Just to add: I think it's more important to apply enough cream and to reapply frequently (not that I'm good at either).
