DD rash & burning up - HELP!

DD, aged 2 1/2, had spots all over face, 3 on an arm & 2 on toes for a few days. Been generally off colour with streaming nose. Just been in to see if she's OK & she's scorching hot. Strip thermometer shows 102.2+ (don't know how reliable they are). Told DS but he's snoring & just went 'Mmmm'. 3 pharmacists have said it's not chick pox, although all her little chums have had it in last few weeks.
1 Any suggestions what to do? (to do with DD, not snoring hubby).
2 Any idea what it might be? Have just given her some of that powerful Calpol & set the alarm for 2am to check temp again.
Can't sleep as mind is churning (also about who got through on BGT, but that's another matter!), any thoughts welcome.

I would recheck temperature in 1/2 hour.

If still raised contact nhs direct. My first thought woulkd be chicken pox if she has been in contact with it.

You can also give childrens nurofen to reduce temperature.

Strip off down to nappy.

Push fluids, when awake.Good sign if weeing OK.

If you are worried do seek prof help, the would rather see a slightly poorly LO as opposed to leaving it and seeing a VERY poorly LO

Strip her down and wipe her over with a tepid flannel - that should help bring her temperature down.

As this has come on over a few days rather than very quickly in the last few hours it is probably not anything of an emergency but I would make a doctors appointment in the morning. You could phone NHS direct line for reassurance if you like.

Also - could you sleep in your DD's bedroom? You may feel more reassured being closer to her.

Measles starts with spots on the face. My 7 year old has just come through it. Two of my others look like they'll follow suit.

You'll know soon enough if it's measles as the rash spreads very quickly from the head down through the body.

Sorry she's feeling rotten.

At least you know that a rash is the last immune response, the body chucking out. So she should be about to turn the corner.

All the best.

Of course if the rash doesn't get more extreme it could be a bacterial infection. Either way all you can do really is keep her comfortable and cool. Read her stories and give her plenty of tlc.

She just started crying so went in to cuddle her. Gone back in cot now. Have got air con in her room (gets incredibly hot at back of house. Am not sure whether to put that on for a bit to help. DOn't really want to do wet flannel while she's awake as think she'd be better sleeping it off. What do you think? I remember when I was pregnant and kept having to rush to hos with bleeds and thinking I wanted her out so that all the worrying would be over ... ha ha ha!
