To carry on potty training dd or give up!

Sorry for another potty training thread but I'm in a dilema with dd (2.7) and whether to carry on starting potty training. It's crunch time really as we're expecting another baby beginning August, so either we do it now or probably going to have to wait for quite a while.

Up till now, we've had the potty around as her older brother still uses one. She's done a few poos on there at bath time after telling me she needed to go. She doesn't say anything when she needs a wee.

So today she wore pants until after lunch. Initially she was keen and happy to go with me to the loo and sit on potty briefly every so often. (Both at home and when we popped out).

But we had two wees on the floor and both times got quite upset. (Actually I was surprised that she could go for a couple of hours without weeing at all). Then after the 2nd accident she asked for the nappy back.

So what with her distress over it and the new baby due soon, should I carry on tomorrow? Have 3 fairly quiet days coming up before back to nursery and me at work on Monday!!

Just to add, another reason I'm so nervous is that with ds, potty training went all wrong when he was slightly older than dd. I got stressed, he got very stressed and anti the whole thing and eventually before he was 3 was in pants but then got really constipated and now 2 years down the line is still on medication and a strict sitting routine. So I just want it to be more straightforward for dd!

I would give it another go if you have a quiet few days. Sometimes it just takes a bit longer to "click" in their heads. DS used to get really upset at accidents too esp if he pooed on Roary! but distract distract distract. Can understand that you are sensitive if your ds had a bad experience. I have no experience of PT girls but people often say they take to it quicker? Good luck!
